The Forests

These are the Miyawaki forests that have been planted as part of the Miyawaki Forest Program.

The forests are in schools, the community and private residences.

South Padbury Primary School

A school in Perth’s northern suburbs on the Swan Coastal Plain. This was the first forest in the program and the first in W.A.

The site was once a Banksia woodland community.

Makybe Rise Primary School

A school in Perth’s southern suburbs on the Swan Coastal Plain. This was the second forest in the program.

The site was once a Banksia woodland community.

  • Item description
A school site prior to their forest being planted. It was the site or an old demountable classroom and the space was not used.

The old grassed area turns into a small forest system in a relatively short space of time, bringing with it biodiversity and the opportunity for STEM learning.

Eddystone Primary School

A school in Perth’s northern suburbs on the Swan Coastal Plain. This was the third forest in the program.

The site was once a Banksia woodland community.

Statewide Services

A forest planted in collaboration with the Department of Education, it is their demonstration ‘Bush Classroom’. The forest is the fourth forest in the program and is located at the Statewide Services site in Padbury.

The site was once a banksia woodland community.

Brookton Community Garden

A community forest planted in the wheatbelt town of Brookton, 1.5 hours east of Perth. This was the sixth forest in the program

The site was once a eucalyptus woodland community.

A forest planted at a private residence in Perth’s northern suburbs. It was planted around an existing jacaranda tree. This was the 16th forest in the program.

Catalina Estate

This was a community forest planted in partnership with the City of Wanneroo and Carbon Positive Australia in Perth’s northern suburbs on the Swan Coastal Plain. This was the 19th forest planted as part of the program.

This was a community forest planted in partnership with Transition Town Vincent and the Town of Vincent. This was the 21st forest in the program.

The site was once a Banksia woodland community.
